Nanz and I love working with Sony and Intel. Both teams are so different but equally awesome. Good ideas abound when all the brains get together.

The Sony and Intel Team
One of the things we all wanted to explore together was plugging Nanz Inc into the blogosphere. Intel roped in their agency Ogilvy, whose new media gurus Tania Chew and Patricia Law brewed this meeting today with some of Singapore’s most popular and respected bloggers.
It was all very casual as we met inside Sony’s Digital Workshop room (very cool — Sony offers classes in digital editing and filming on site at their Wisma location). Sushi and Coke Zero were the fare of the evening as we snacked a bit and chatted among ourselves.
I was excited to finally meet the lovely Nadnut — in 2004 when I started my non-profit group Women Make A Difference (WMD), it was a group of bloggers that really made a difference. Cowboy Caleb and Barffie were two of WMD’s biggest supporters and helpers, and when they had a bloggers’ night out, Nadnut was chairperson and responsible for raising funds for WMD! Eternally grateful, Nadia. Talking to her made me miss Barffie and Cowboy…

Bloggers listening in on the speakers of the night: Nanz, Jamshed (Intel) and Leon (Sony).
Leon Gerald Pereira of Sony got up to do an intro for all the parties, followed by Jamshed of Intel (who is himself a social networker of remarkable proportions) who gave his stamp of approval on the evening before introducing Nanz.
It was hilarious that as Nanz spoke everyone whipped out their Blackberries, iPhones and assorted Wifi-enabled smartphones to Tweet and blog. Nanz explained how Nanz Inc began, our hopes and dreams, and extended a hand of friendship.

I got to speak about WMD for a couple of minutes, which was fantastic — I first came to the blogosphere because I felt WMD’s messages of helping women and children who can’t help themselves has greater resonance on the ground. The blogosphere is the real deal — I have experienced for myself Singaporeans (and Malaysians, and Thais, and Australians) who may not be corporations with millions of dollars to support my cause but who, by the power of word of mouth and, inherently, trust, got the word out, blogged about our causes, and tangibly made a difference.

Thank you Nadnut, Nicole of Tech65 (lurve your gadgets and the authoritative way you speak about that 12 megapixel Samsung), Daryl Tay of Blue, Nick and Alex from Plus Six Five (we love you guys, sexy curls and all) and the venerable Vic Tan — we hope we’ll have lots of chances to link with you guys, and spread each other’s messages.
Nanz Inc will be launching a series of bloggers brunches and other meets — drop us a line if you’re a blogger and you’re keen to eat and be savvy with us!
