SINGAPORE, 18 September 2009 – Nanz Inc.Com, a website offering a daily online talkshow by Nanz Chong-Komo, as well as daily article updates, goes live today. The site’s target audience include Asian women and women entrepreneurs, or those who have business aspirations.
The “baby” of Chong-Komo, a widely-known former model-turned-entrepreneur, Nanz Inc.Com is Chong-Komo’s comeback business.
“Since the closure of ONE.99Shop, people have not stopped asking me when I’m going to start my next business,” says Chong-Komo, whose popular chain of stores closed down in 2003 during the onslaught of SARS. “I have never let failure scare me into quitting, but I did put a lot of thought into what kind of business I wanted to do next.”
After ONE.99Shop’s closure, Chong-Komo found herself being invited to give talk to corporate women from Singapore to Thailand. Thus began a lucrative public speaking career, one that planted the seed for Nanz Inc.Com.
“Women would come up to me after my talks and ask me the same questions: ‘How do you manage kids and work?’ ‘I want to become an entrepreneur — where do I begin?’ ‘How can I be a good mum and wife and still be effective at my workplace?’
“It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to share my experiences and tips — to teach them how to do life better — on a platform that could reach as many women as possible, since I can only reach a few hundred women at a time when I give a speech.”
The idea for a women’s website was the culmination of years of brainstorming with partner Theresa Tan. The two had worked on Chong-Komo’s best-selling book, One Business, 99 Lessons.
“We went through the idea of a print magazine, but discovered it was a high-cost business that has become less and less popular among readers and advertisers in the last five, six years,” explains Chong-Komo. “We discussed various other models, but ultimately were convinced that online is the way to go. Asia’s conversion to internet usage is phenomenal, and Asian women make up the fastest-growing group of web users.”
Nanz Inc.Com rides on the personality and branding of Chong-Komo, who has long been a familiar face in the media and a poster-girl for women entrepreneurs in Singapore. While the business is primarily online, one key component will be live seminars and conferences organised by Nanz Inc.Com that will bring women together, live, to learn to “do life better”.
“That’s our motto at Nanz Inc, we constantly want to do life better. We want to be better mums, better wives, better businesspeople, better citizens, better friends… and we know women have an inborn hunger to do their best and always do better. Nanz Inc brings women the tools and tips that they need to help them reach their goals, while having fun.”
The public can log on to www.nanzinc.com to read articles and participate in games, but Nanz Inc also offers a membership level where members get special perks and discounts, as well as entry to member-only events which offers invaluable networking opportunities.
The site officially launches in October.
