Photo Time With The Kids

I think I have taken about 100,000 photos in the past year. Most of them are in the hard disk of my VAIO TT, and never been printed. Many of my 100,000 photos are the result of my adoring my kids and capturing all their moments.

I make an effort to file my photos decently so that I can find them — don’t you hate it when you know you have taken some great shots but can’t find them?  I label them broadly under “work”, “family”, “others”. Sounds simple but look at my sub-categories: “Work: Old, Past, Current, Speeches, Nanz Inc”. “Family: Kids, Trips, Personal” and like, 10 other sub-categories.

What’s great about putting them on my TT is that the Media Gallery function automatically lists them out by date so it’s easy for me to find the photos according to when I take them.

In between my emails and work planning at home, I often take a break by gathering my troop of three to enjoy Mommy’s photo collection. I have so many photos in my VAIO they haven’t even seen all the photos once through! But good thing is, with Media Gallery on my VAIO, viewing my categorized photos is a breeze (also thanks to the fact it’s powered by Intel’s Core™2 Duo Processor so there’s no lag).

What’s fun for the kids is when there’s a piece of recommended music (Media Gallery can actually suggest an accompanying tune) — they love to watch the photos in a movie format with music, especially songs they know, like ‘I Like To Move It (Move It)’ from Madagascar.

One of the best things about getting kids to look at their past photos is that it reminds them of the places we have brought them to, the people they met, the parties we held for them.

This is really helpful with my older children. Often they feel that their younger sibling gets all the attention. By showing them past photos of all we did together, they are reminded they were there, and so much love was showered on them too.

I love these moments of family bonding time. They are priceless! We don’t even need to get out of the house or squeeze through crowds to have a truly good time together.
