Why do you love your VAIO?
It’s like another part of my body — I can’t live without it. If I’m not out seeing a client, attending a meeting, or interviewing people, my VAIO is the first thing I turn on every morning. Everything is stored in it, from my work to my personal photographs. It’s my link to the outside world via emails and Facebook (both outside the country and inside the country, and I do have many friends outside the country that I keep in touch with), and a lot of important information, such as all my mobile numbers, are synced to my VAIO. This includes the songs in my iPod — so my Z is my traveling stereo when I go on trips.
What appeals to you about its looks?
The Z looks classic, sleek, elegant and professional. Most importantly, it’s light-weight. It was the latest model at the time I bought it, and has good qualifications. It’s fast and efficient, with good storage space. I needed a new laptop, and VAIO was the brand that I chose from the start. I love how it is so sleek and easy to use, and it simply feels good carrying my VAIO!
Your VAIO Z has an Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor, which helps it run fast and work hard. How hard do you work your VAIO?
Here’s what I use it for: Writing, storing columns, storing pictures, sending and checking emails, sending photographs to be printed, Google, setting up initial business appointments, updating clients’ details, keeping in touch with clients and friends, organizing MBA and high school reunions, organizing business seminars, doing PR work, setting up outings with friends, sending out reminders, scheduling photoshoots, MSN, storing and updating phone numbers and other important contacts, storing iPod songs, burning CDs, writing and sending invoices, keeping track of what I have done, sending out e-invitations of my own events that I want to promote… and more!
Where is the weirdest place your VAIO has been to with you?
Once I brought it to the hospital — I had an urgent assignment but I had to go visit a sick person.

Do you think VAIO is made for women. If yes, why?
Absolutely! VAIO is gorgeous. It is beautiful, sleek and is available in all sorts of sizes and colours. It also comes not only with looks, and excellent service centres. I’ve received excellent customer service in Thailand — I’ve have been invited to wait at the service centre while they fixed my VAIO, and they served me beverages while I waited! There’s a VAIO model to suit every taste, guaranteed.
I have a black one, but I’m dying to have a maroon one. When I was shopping for my VAIO I even dreamt about the maroon one — but I went back to buy this black one that I am happily typing away on now. If you compare VAIO to other brands (okay, I’m not going to mention names here), I am sure Sony VAIO comes up top of mind as the top brand that women look for.

Age: 27
Her VAIO: Z VGN-Z26GN in black. Intel® Core™2 Duo P8600. 3GB memory, 320GB storage space. Genuine Windows Vista Business.
Why do you love your VAIO?
It is the best traveling companion — I call it my virtual personal assistant! My VAIO is the first thing I take out from my luggage bag when I check into hotels and the last thing I keep before checking out. It helps me to organize my life “electronically” as I store everything in there. This is my first VAIO and I’m just getting used to the functions.
Why did you pick this model?
I chose this because of the high performance — it has an Intel® Core™2 Duo P8600 (2.40 Ghz) running on Windows Vista Business. I like the storage space of 320GB and 3GB memory. Furthermore, the built-in fingerprint sensor is pretty cool! As for black – I love it, it’s simply elegant.
What are your three favourite features of your VAIO?
The built-in camera, it’s light weight (1.48kg), and the lithium-ion battery life which lasts up to 7.5 hours.
The VAIO Z is a powerful mobile computer — tell us all the things you use it for.
Personal: Emailing, making appointments and setting reminders in Outlook Calendar, updating contacts, creating “To-do” lists
Work: Frequent use of Microsoft Office
Word to type all sorts of documents
Excel to keep track of my flying allowances
Powerpoint to conduct my training courses
Finance: Most of my transactions are done online- E-banking, bills payments, monitoring shares prices
Surfing: Online shopping, Google. I read the Straits Times and update myself on fashion news online.
Social Networking: MSN, Facebook, Twitter, Skype.
Storage: Storing my around-the-world albums, music and videos.
Entertainment: Watching DVDs/movies, listening to music, ripping CDs.
Where is the weirdest place your VAIO has been to with you?
The cabin crew bunk in the aircraft, where the flight attendants rest during a long flight. While my colleagues are sleeping in their bunks, I’m usually watching my favourite music video or DVD.
Do you think VAIO made for women? If yes, why?
I don’t think it’s just the women that find the Z a great machine. Nowadays, all consumers go for sleek looks, light weight and good specifications, even businessmen. Of course there are VAIO models just for ladies: in fact, I’m thinking of getting a P-series Internet companion. It’s only eight inches, under 600g and I can slip it into my handbag…
