Why VAIO Is A Girl’s Best Friend

Why VAIO Is A Girl's Best Friend

Too much of a good thing is wonderful, as pianist Liberace once said. Theresa Tan meets a Sony VAIO fan who lives this adage.

Gillian Koo (not her real name) is an investment banker with an eye for pretty things. Right on the centre shelf of her walk-in wardrobe, amidst racks of designer clothes and accessories, and a floor-to-ceiling wall of shoes, sits her Sony VAIO.

“I know it sounds really frivolous so please don’t tell anyone my real name!” she begs, as she shows us how she catalogs her clothes on her VAIO. She has them cross-listed by designer and brand, and by item eg, dresses, suits (skirt), suits (trouser), tops (casual)… you get the idea.

Her VAIO CS is pink and has a crocodile skin cover. It does not look one bit amiss in that treasure trove of expensive fashion.

“My CS is for play – its 14-inch wide screen is fantastic. I am in the process of photographing my pieces so that my catalog is visual.

“In case you think I have too much time on my hands, I do this because I sometimes sell my pieces – some have vintage value and when a particular designer is hot on eBay I may sell off certain items. Can’t help being an investor lah!”

Gillian has a VAIO .Z for work (“Powered by With an Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor and its fast processing speeds, It’s a real workhorse computer, that one, it’s got 6 gb gig of memory and this SSD Raid technology that allows for superfast response time — every investor needs one!”). Now she’s got her eye on the P in champagne gold, the ultra mobile Internet companion (“For when I just want a light computer for surfing at the poolside, you know? It weighs under 600g!”).

For a hardcore fan like Gillian, Sony VAIO is a girl’s best friend. There are many things to love about the VAIO line, as she points out, and each model has unique features that make it desirable for a different reason.

VAIO knows what a woman likes,” says Gillian. “A VAIO laptop is exceptionally mobile – my Z is lighter than any of the laptops I’ve had in the past. It’s less than 1.5kg 1.55kg. The TT, which is also a fabulous machine, weighs 1.31kg and its battery lasts six hours up to 6.5 hours.

“I don’t have to tell you about the ergonomic design – it’s just beautiful and easy to use. The keys are raised so I don’t get that annoying thing where my nails get caught in the grooves.”

Gillian likes the VAIO so much “I got my boyfriend an FW for his birthday. He is a big movie buff, and we watch Blu-ray DVDs on that one. It’s built for home entertainment: it has a high-definition screen that’s 16:9, so perfect for widescreen movies. But when we’re feeling like a popcorn night then we hook it up to his large-screen LCD – this laptop is HDMI-ready.”

The FW comes with Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology and is optimized for outstanding wireless performance and connectivity with a long battery life, so that you need to be productive and connected on the go, plus VAIO FW Integrated Dolby Sound Room that gives out cinema quality audio.

“What can I say, there just isn’t a PC laptop line like the VAIO.”

  2. Clemence Ko says:

Sony VAIO are definitely have the “Killer Looks” among all laptops. A true “Ladies Killer” too. Almost every one of my female friends own one. Though guys can own one too due to its entertainment features, the ladies have more vibrant choices for them to indulge in. Like what the ending quote says, “What can I say, there just isn’t a PC laptop line like the VAIO.”

  3. Definitely :) I think the Z is really nice for business, loads very fast.

  4. Clemence Ko says:
